My PASSION for Prevention!

This is an excerpt from my VERY FIRST eNewsletter all those years ago!

It confides some of my WHY…. Some of the reason for my passion for prevention…

Unfortunately, the stats re overweight and obesity in adults and children are now outdated! The figures are MUCH HEAVIER (pardon the pun!)

But, here you go 🙂

“Welcome to the inaugural edition of New Leaf Nutrition BITES Newsletter!

I trust that this monthly publication will be a source of inspiration, ideas, motivation and endless information to support the creation of the healthiest YOU possible!

My big vision is to make a real difference to the health of all Australians, in fact all humans 🙂 . The fact that 60% of our adult population, and 40% of our children, are overweight or obese, really saddens me. It saddens me because I see all the time the effects of poor lifestyle choices and the burden excess body weight has on our physiological, psychological and spiritual well being.

When I was training at The Alfred and Royal Children’s hospitals in Melbourne, I saw children as young as 11 being diagnosed with Type 2 (previously “Adult Onset”) Diabetes, families heartbroken over loved ones heart attacks, strokes, or other heart conditions, as well as far too many undergoing treatment for cancers of all types.

To add to my passion for prevention, was my experience in numerous aged care institutions. There I spent a lot of time with beautiful people who told ME they wished they had’ve looked after themselves better when they were younger, so they may not be in the positions they are now. Unable to care for themselves after a stroke, a fall, or failing mental abilities.

I know this all sounds bleak, but this is WHY I care so much, am SO passionate, and why I dedicate my life to what I do. I live and breathe all that I share with my clients and KNOW that good food, physical activity, a strong mindset and balance are the keys to prevention.

Furthermore, I know how ENERGETIC, CONFIDENT and GLOWING good food can make us feel and I see this transformation in my clients all the time.

Most importantly, I know how GOOD, real food can TASTE! There simply is no comparison to the raw materials nature gave us! And with a little guidance, nous and creativity, real food can be SUPER QUICK, FUN and MOUTH WATERING!

I sincerely hope you find this publication one that you look forward to each month, and one that you can share with friends, family and acquaintances all over the globe! For in this sharing, you may help me to create a healthier and happier community 🙂
